Quezon City, June 10, 2025— The Deputy District Director for Administration/Officer-in-Charge, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced the arrest of three (3) female suspects for Theft in an anti-criminality operation conducted by operatives of the District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU), in Quezon City.

PLTCOL Romil Avenido, Station Commander of Batasan Police Station (PS 6) identified the suspects as alias “Cristina”, 42 years old; alias “Mary Ann”, 39 years old, both residents of Brgy. Minuyan San Jose Del Monte Bulacan; and alias “Elizabeth”, 39 years old, resident of Camarin Caloocan City.

According to the report, on June 9, 2025, at around 6:45 AM, in front of Don Fabian Street, corner Commonwealth Avenue, Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City, two female victims were waiting for a PUJ bound for Philcoa when the suspects, while aiding and with intent to gain, stole their mobile phones. The victims, however, sensed the nefarious act and, with the help of nearby bystanders, confronted and cornered the suspects.

The incident was immediately relayed to patrolling police officers of Traffic Sector 5 of the District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU) under the supervision of PLTCOL Josef Geoffrey Lyndon P Lim, who promptly responded and effected the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen items.

Recovered from the suspects were one (1) Samsung Galaxy A06 and one (1) Oppo A15 cellphones.

Upon verification through Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV), it was revealed that alias “Mary Ann” had previous cases for violation of P.D. 1602 (Illegal Gambling) in August 2018, and for Theft in December 2019 and August 2023. Alias “Elizabeth” had previous case of Theft in February 2023 while alias “Cristina” had previous cases for Theft in March 2023, December 2024 and March 2025 as well as P.D. 1602 in April 2024.

The suspects were charged for Theft before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

PCOL Silvio commended the DTEU Sector 5 operatives led by PLT ALLAN ERICK M BACALZO – OIC, TS5 for their swift action which resulted in the arrest of the suspects and confiscation of the stolen cellphones and said,” Ipinapakita lamang nito na ang ating DTEU ay hindi lamang nakaatas na magsiyasat ng mga insidente sa kalsada at ipatupad ang batas trapiko, kundi handa rin silang tumugon sa anumang insidente, kabilang na ang mga street crimes.” “Nagpapasalamat din ako sa pagmamalasakit na ipinakita ng QCitizen sa kanyang kapwa na nagresulta sa agarang pagresponde ng ating kapulisan sa insidente. Ito ay simbolo lamang na maganda ang ugnayan ng ating mga mamamayan at kapulisan,” he added.##
